Ralph Lauren is set to release the winning design from their “Bring It Back”
program introduced as part their Ralph Lauren Vintage line.
The story goes, the Polo Bear was a collectible Steiff teddy bear outfitted
in Ralph Lauren apparel, given to the designer as a birthday present during
the company’s early years. Known for his impeccable taste, Lauren made
the bears available to customers before getting the idea to put it on sweaters.
In 1991, the Polo Bear sweater debuted. Since then, they’ve become
one of the company’s most popular (although unofficial) mascots.
There is one version for men and another for women.
